Let Us Remember...

Let Us Remember...

"A great people has been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shattered steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.
America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining.
Today, our nation saw evil, the very worst of human nature. And we responded with the best of America"- George W. Bush
"I can hear you, the rest of the world hears you. And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon. I want justice. When I take action, I’m not going to fire a $2 million missile at a $10 empty tent and hit a camel in the butt. It’s going to be decisive."-George W. Bush

Let Us Remember...
What stood there before...

Let Us Remember...
What happened that day...

Let Us Remember...
Who did this...

and how they celebrated in the streets...

As difficult as it may be...
We must continue to look at these images...
We must promise to make our children see these images, so their children will understand...

That as a nation and a people, we have fed the world and freed the world,
while standing intolerant of intolerance.
They have counted on America to be passive, but they are wrong.
We must teach them to understand that war does not determine who is RIGHT...
war determines who is LEFT...
And our best defense is strength, with weapons so feared, that they are never used.

Let us Remember...
The Heroes....

"Let's Roll"

  1. I remember waking up to my clock radio favorite station and the disc jockey saying "we are getting reports that an airplane has crashed into one of the World Trade Center buildings. I remember immediately turning on the news and watching the rest unfold before I had to leave for work.Seeing the shock on peoples faces during my commute, I knew things would never be the same.

  2. I had just woke up. My wife had let me sleep in because it was my 41st Birthday. I'm in law enforcement and I had the day off. I came out of the bedroom and was pouring a cup of coffee when my wife said from the living room, "Honey, you better come in here." I walked into the living room just in time to see the 2nd plane hit the WTC. I haven't celebrated a birthday since. It just doesn't seem right to me to be using this day for any type of celebrations. Just don't seem right.

  3. My story is, I was working on preparing snow plows for the city I worked at and jamming on the radio at the same time, when I heard, we interrupt this station for a special news bulletin, a jetliner just now plowed into the World Trade Center, I said no, this is a joke, cause they BS-ed alot on that radio station, then I heard the second tower has just been hit, then I had to run to the office and tell them to turn on their TV set and low and behold, there it was on TV, so I took the rest of the day off and finished the preps the next day..

  4. I was at work and a friend called to tell me a plane had hit one of the Twin Towers. She thought it was an accident. I told her it was no accident. Then the second plane hit and there was no doubt. The images of that day are engraved into my memory. I will never forget. Do I feel safe? Absolutely not. We cannot depend on this government to protect us; we have to protect ourselves as best as we can.

    God Bless the U.S.A.

Never give in, never give up and never again…

  5. I walked into our breakroom at work where we had TV monitors on the news channel, and it was in the very early stages of the situation. I watched in disbelief as the events unfolded. By the time the second plane struck, tears were streaming down my face, but I could not move away from the TV. I live and work within 150 miles of Barksdale AFB in Bossier City, LA. I remember being horrified when they brought Pres. Bush to Barksdale. I was so scared they would follow him, somehow putting us in danger too. I still find it hard to put into words the heartbreak I felt for my fellow Americans and my country that day!

  6. I woke up at 7 am, went outside to feed my horses and other animals. Got back inside my home where the coffee was waiting, and as usual, my tv on with the news...Have to have my coffee with the morning news...The one morning I wished I hadn't had the news on. No sooner had the front door closed behind me, I hear the tv saying our nation was under attack. My heart went to my feet, tears started pouring from my eyes, I turned the coffee pot to off, and walked into my bedroom, where I had a tv on also. I picked up my Bible on my night stand, sat on the side of my bed, and began to pray for the people on the planes....I begged God to let them live. I knew this was not what it appeared to be, my gut told me it was something much deeper...I don't think our Nation has been the same since, nor have I. It took it's toll on our Country, our citizens, and our personal lives. How could we be the same??? NEVER FORGET 9/11 AND THOSE WHO DIED.....NEVER. RIP INNOCENT SOULS.

  7. My name is John. I'm Australian and was living in Tasmania on 9/11. We had a news flash on the TV when the first plane hit the tower. I ran to my son's room and woke him. I announced to him to come and see the end of the world as we know it, and it was. I can't imagin the pain America must have felt when this tragity occured. My heart go's out to all who lost someone that day. Praise to the brave men and women who risked their live for others......The price of freedom is great, but the price for doing nothing, is far greater. GOD BLESS YOU ALL............

  9. I was watching something stupid on daytime TV when this happened. I couldn't believe what happened...still feel shell-shocked that we were so vulnerable as to allow this to happen. The sights I saw that day are etched in my memory forever. I hope I never have to witness such an event for the rest of my life. I couldn't view the re-runs of people diving out of windows...makes me heartsick to remember it.

After school opened and the daycare closed, I finished my other duties and began a lively conversation with another parent. We strolled outside to chat; as I said, the day was gorgeous. My friend and I sat down in the sun and continued to talk;suddenly, parents began arriving, one at a time then, in two's and three's. They were saying that someone had shot a rocket into the World Trade Center. We hurried inside with the others to the tv that the principal had pulled into the conference room. We looked on in horror at the smoke and flames rising from the tower. As we watched, the second plane hit.I decided then and there that I was talking my children home with me that day; if our country was under attack then my Family was gonna be together. As we were at a private school, we went to a chapel service immediately, where we prayed for those we had just lost. Before I had even withdrawn my daughter from school, my son had called from the high school, and I went home with a carload of kids whose parents wanted then home as well! I had called ahead to my house as my daddy was alive then, and living with us; he had just recently lost his sight to complications from Agent Orange. My neighbor's son was one of the kids I brought home, and his dad had gone to make sure my dad was alright. I was terrified for him to be home by himself; needless to say, he was fine. Once home with my daddy and kids I had to wait for my husband who was somewhere in Cleveland working on a job. I had no way to get in touch with him unless he called me, thankfully he finally was able to get through and I knew my Family was safe! My daddy, the kids, and I planted ourselves in front of the tv where we watched the rest of the horrific day unfold. By that time there was a no-fly order in place; we noticed it particularly because we lived near the Cleaveland International Airport. I mean we were in the landing path for the airport; you could walk to the end of our block and see the airport. All of a sudden we heard a PLANE overhead, I completely freaked out and went out to look, like it would accomplish something. It was within the hour that United flight 93 went down in Pa. It had flown right over us!!! We heard rumors that there was a plane with a bomb AT the airport; there were so many rumors flying that day I had no idea what to think. I was consumed over the next few weeks and months with trying to figure out how I could do something to help those people who needed so much. My beautiful little dughter gave all her savings to the firemen, and I was so proud. All I knew then, and all I know now, is that my country was under attack. I will do anything in my power to support, defend, and deliver if necessary, my counrty!! America, America!! NEVER FORGET--NEVER FORGIVE

  11. I was living in the Bronx, on my way to a doctors visit with my mom. As we were on the bridge headed to long island, we saw the first tower up in full blown smoke. I had no idea yet how it had happened. I was alarmed when I saw fire engines driving past me in a big hurry against traffic on the wrong side of the bridge. I knew something really bad was going on. Upon arriving to the doctors office, there we learned on TV of the horror that took place & continued to unfold. My mom and I ended up sleeping in the doctors office over-night. The bridges in NYC were shut down for safety. Since We were the only patients from the WTC side of the water, we had no place to stay & the doctor was gracious enough to let us stay in his clinic. The Dr wrote my mom a temp prescription for her heart meds so she could have them right away since her meds were back home. We slept safe that night. The next day the Dr got a limo to drive us across the water back home as soon as bridges were open. Our family was so worried for us. We were the only ones in our family who were not home & could not make it home as a result of the attacks. NYC looked thick with smoke. The air was bad & smelled toxic (like being trapped with a smoker in a phone booth).
A week later, I moved to VA.
Til this day I don't believe enough has been done to help all the emergency volunteers who became ill from being exposed to the toxic air during the entire process of rescue and clean up!

I remember waking up & getting ready for work that day as usual, & when I was heading to the kitchen I stopped dead in my tracks as I caught the first image on my tv screen of the plane hitting the first tower. I thought it wasn't real. I didn't believe that this could really be happening to us here in our great country -- and how arrogant of me to have thought that...I stood there with my mom watching in horror as the scene unfolded and the 2nd tower was hit. For the first time in my life I realized that we are all just moving targets in this terrorist war and it made me feel afraid, vulnerable, and heartbroken for all the brave and innocent people who so senselessly lost their lives. They were people just like me. Doing their daily routine just like me. And none of them except the terrorists flying the planes knew that it would be their last day on Earth, or the last time they would kiss their loved ones goodbye in the morning. 9/11 has left a scar on so many lives...I don't think we will ever forget.

  13. Rooster Cogborn STUCK IN TRAFFIC WHEN OUR NATION WAS ATTACKED
While driving to work and waiting for the green light, the radio broke the news with an urgent announcement - then patched in a NY station broadcasting the horrific event live. In shock, I looked at the driver next to me who was also staring back with his mouth open, in complete disbelief. Several of us missed the green light - and nobody honked.
Thoughts turned to my wife who was in DC on business, and was supposed to be on one of those planes, coming home. Phone lines were jammed and no news during such a disaster was hell. Did she make it? By mid-afternoon, she called with good news - a "new found friend" had a rental car and drove many miles out of his way to bring me my ever-lovin.

  14. I was cleaning up the morning dishes when my son called. I asked him where he was, because he was late picking up my husband for a flight to NYC, for their business meeting in Manhattan. He told me to turn on the TV. Just after turning on Fox News Channel, the second plane hit the WTC. My son said, "We are under attack!" Needless to say, the flights were grounded and they didn't get to their meeting for several days. When their flights were re-scheduled, they returned to NY. As they flew into the city, they could see the smoke rising from the ashes of what was once a vibrant business center, where people went about their normal daily work activities, striving for better lives for themselves and their families ... working for the American dream ... that is now nearly gone. God help America.

  15. I remember that day. I was up in the Appalachian Mountains, stoning a fireplace. We were working and the story broke through the music. The guy I was working for told me that it was probably Osama Bin Laden. I was a close-eyed naive person back then. This event started to open my eyes to what was really happening out there and in our our country. The guy I worked for was a far left liberal, who constantly criticized me because I was a republican. Needless to say that job didn't last long, but I can remember after 09/11, the fighter jets were up in the sky almost everyday, doing maneuvers over the mountains. Kind of puts you in awe to see and hear them zip past you not to far off of the canvas. I'm pretty sure they were F-16's, but kinda hard to see clearly when they are so fast. That day changed the way I thought, lived, and voted, as I am sure it did for a lot of people.

Somehow I thought it would be easier to watch all the news again after 10 yrs... it was not; I thought it would be easier to see the new shows... it was not. It was just as emotional as the 1st time, the tears were just as hot on my face, some I didn't even realize I were falling until they started dripping onto my shirt. I watched a new movie about Flight 93, done very well, and I cried. Why did I think even for a minute, that this would be any easier the 10th or 20th time? The truth is it will never be easy ~ no matter how many times I see it it will still be horrible, it will still break my heart to see all those people searching the streets for their loved ones... all the posters and all the people "on the pile" who would not give up until the very end. I am an American, and I am Proud of my Country!

I am a survivor of 09/11/01, I was in the South Tower and with the help of my dear friend and co-worker May Bove and a man from the same floor we were on, we went down 10 floors and managed to get an elveator to the lobby. May and I proceeded to get out of the building on Liberty Street, when the plane hit the South Tower. May Bove covered me, to try and protect me from the impact.
We then proceeded to get to Broadway and try and find our co-workers. We found our Branch Manager, proceeded to go to the Seaport. On the way, the South Tower collapsed, I was hit by someone in the rush of cloud of the Tower coming down. We then managed to get into a office where we were able to contact our families that we were fine.
We eventually got on a barge and went to Brooklyn, ended up at my dear friend's home for the night.

I was waiting for a meeting to start when I heard the first reports of that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. No one was sure at that time if it was a horrible accident or something more ominous. When the second plane hit it dawned on me that this was something my two kids were going to possibly be called upon to help a nation deal with it. An overwhelming dread hit me. The 9/11 attacks have cost this country much -- it has cost me one of my sons. I post this with pride in honor of my oldest son, MN2 Steven S. Whitsitt, Jr., currently serving in the U.S. Navy. I post this in loving memory of my youngest son, PFC Geoffrey A. Whitsitt, U.S. Army, 118th MP Brigade (Airborne), KIA 1/13/10, Logar Provence Afghanistan. May his memory, and the memories of all our heros, be etched in our collective souls forever.

‎~I am proud of my young daughter who served her country this past year in Afghanistan - she was just a child ten years ago and now she is a strong, beautiful NG soldier because she wanted to keep our country safe and help people in America. Little did we know she would be a part of this long war... I pray for all of our troops to come back home safe. I pray for all the families who lost their loved ones overseas and here in America, and God Bless All of our Heroes for kicking terrorism in the face!

  20. I remember I was cooking lunch for my kids and their grandpa... and it flashed over the news.. I was stunned, grandpa and I looked at eachother, I started to flip channels and could not believe what I was seeing. I called my mom and dad and we all just said I love you and happy we are safe. God Bless to all that was affected this day. Which would be everyone in the United states, maybe not personally but it has affected all of us. It was like watching a movie.. something know one would ever think was really happening. God Bless Everyone. I HOPE THIS DAY MADE EVERYONE REALIZE WHAT THEY HAVE IN THEIR LIVES AND TO NEVER TO TAKE ADVANTAGE , ALSO TO NEVER GO TO BED, WORK, OR OUT WITHOUT SAYING I LOVE YOU. BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW IF IT IS THE LAST TIME YOU WILL GET TO SAY IT. THREE WORDS THAT MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE.

  21. I was sleeping such a peaceful dream. The phone rings! I hear my friend on the other line. "We just had war declared on us" he says. "Turn on the news"! I turn on the news and there it is the 2nd plane hit tower 2. "This is just a movie" I tell him. Then reality sets in this is no movie. "I got to go" I tell him. I am scared my son is in another state on vacation with g-ma and g-pa. I cant get a hold of them. On my knees I pray "please GOD please let them be ok".

I can still remember the exact feelings, smells, sights, & sounds from that horrible day. I hold my son now 12 while he crys and asks "why mommy why"?

Thank you to all who keep us safe. Thank you to all the passengers of Flight 93. RIP to all those lives lost that day. My thoughts and prayers with those who lost someone 10 years ago today.

  23. I was teaching in an elementary school in Connecticut less than an hour from NYC. I had to pretend that nothing was wrong that day since some of my students' parents worked down there. Knowing what was happening and not getting the continuous updates was tough because because my mind was racing. Our school ended up having many of those "close calls" but no immediate family members were lost, thank God.

  25. I remember waking up that morning, turning on the TV and seeing the 1st building burning, then the 2nd plane hit the second tower. It was so unbelievable that it was happening. I had a flight to come over to the usa within days afterwards and to see the USA pull together with love & support it was such a beautiful thing to see. My heart goes out to all those that lost loves, that were hurt. My hat goes off to the rescue squads and medical team for their kindness and bravey xxx

For the longest time I never understood why my parents would cry every time I had my birthday, but know I know its because they where hurting for all those who where killed by the evil people. Tonight I went to a candle light ceremony at a fire station where I got to touch a beam from one of the towers. I now know why my parents hurt so bad because when I toched the beam I could feel all the hurt and fear of all those people, and it made me cry for all those that didnt make it. Today I am 9 and I will never forget.

  28. I was on a job for Chevron USA in Eunice, NM. We were working on the Arrowhead Grayburg Unit. Our co. man came on location telling us that the WTC had been hit by an airplane. The rig supervisor had a tv that plugged into the cigarette lighter. He was sent home to get it. Once he returned, all work was suspended. We watched in disbelief as the towers burned. Then, in complete horror we watched as they both fell. I was furious that someone would do this to our great country. Most of all, I was heartbroken for the loss of life of both innocent people and the brave responders from the fire dept., police, etc. My prayers are still with the families of them. May we never never forget that most horrible day.

It was a beautiful warm morning when I arrived at work. On my way to the building someone told he a plane flew into a building. I said how blind do you have to be to miss a building, thinking it had to be a small plane. Once I got inside I found out the horrific details. A woman i worked with tried desperatly to get a hold of her son who worked at the pentagon.....several hours later she finally did...he was ok....I will NEVER forget.

  31. My story is ...
First of all sorry for my English not so good

It was a beautiful day in my home town, it was warm and sunny and I had a day off and watched tv as said in the news was that a plane hit the WTC in New York.
    I was shocked ......
I called my mom that she should come into living room. When suddenly the second plane hit the WTC we were shocked. Then said that a plane hit the Pentagon. I was afraid.
Then the south tower fell, I saw only smoke and wondered what's going on when I realized he was gone.
Then I cried the first time on this day.
Was in the news, the talk that a fourth plane, it crashed. I thought it was war.
Then, when the north tower fell, I could not stop crying.

From that moment I was a New Yorker in my heart !!!!!!!!!!!!

    Never forget !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
